When will Godzilla appear in Fortnite?
Although Epic Games hasn't confirmed the exact time, we anticipate the Godzilla update will go live around 9 a.m. ET on Friday, Jan. 17. This coincides with the unlocking of the Godzilla Battle Pass tab, and Fortnite updates usually launch at this time. We expect more details to emerge soon.
Once the update is active, players will need to race to a Rift to transform into Godzilla. Instead of a traditional Mythic item, Epic Games has confirmed that any player in a match has the chance to become Godzilla. A special portal will randomly appear on the map, but it won’t be available in every match. The first player to reach the portal will transform into Godzilla, gaining the ability to Roar, Stomp, and unleash the famous Heat Ray.
Players attempting to defeat Godzilla can target his weak spots to deal damage. Additionally, players can knock off "Godzilla Fragments," which restore 40 health and provide three dash charges. The player who inflicts the most damage on Godzilla will earn the Godzilla Medallion, which grants a recharging dash ability, and also the Exotic Burst Quad Launcher.
In addition to the in-game experience, Battle Pass owners will be able to unlock items from the Godzilla tab as part of the update. This includes the Mothra Glider and two Godzilla skins.
